About Us
B&K Equipment Company has proudly served the petroleum industry since 1968, building a legacy rooted in faith, hard work, and a commitment to excellence. Founded by William (Bill) and Karen Huizenga in Lansing, IL, B&K began with humble beginnings—just one truck, a garage, and a dream. Bill, a pipefitter, saw an opportunity to launch his own petroleum service company at age 29, and together with Karen and their young family, they poured everything into making that vision a reality.
Through perseverance and by the grace of God, B&K grew steadily. What started as a one-man operation installing tanks and piping for local gas stations has become the longest-operating petroleum service company in the Chicagoland area. In 2005, ownership transitioned to the second generation—Bill and Karen’s sons Dale, David, and Steve—who have guided the company through two decades of strong growth, expanding its services and reach across Chicagoland, Central and Northwest Indiana, and Southern Michigan.
Today, the third generation of the Huizenga family—Tim, Jon, Brandon, Mark, and Luke—carry on the legacy with active roles across the organization. Supported by a team of over 50 dedicated employees, B&K remains family-owned and operated, maintaining the same core values that shaped its early days.

A Legacy of Excellence
Since becoming a Tokheim distributor in the 1980s and transitioning to Wayne in 2003, B&K has earned a reputation as one of the top Wayne distributors in the country. We’ve played a key role in product launches and beta projects, becoming a trusted partner in the evolution of POS systems and dispenser technology. Our continued innovation and reliability have positioned us as an industry leader for over 55 years.

Growing to Serve You Better

Our construction division has expanded to offer full ground-up fuel system installations, tank and piping replacements, and a wide range of small-scale construction services. We’ve also enhanced our compliance testing capabilities, positioning B&K as a one-stop solution for all petroleum service needs.
Looking Ahead
Our focus remains on providing expert, reliable services to our customers while expanding our footprint in the construction and compliance testing sectors. We are also planning an expansion of our Lansing facility to support our continued growth and better serve our community.
